Description/Backstory
Raised in a secluded part of the Eldritch Grove by his alleged father, Leofrick, along with his mute handmaidens. Leofrick, with his aged, wooden-featured face and twisted, frail body speaks as evidence to his past with scars from perhaps hundreds of battles all over his body. His handmaidens take care of his desires without question in what seems a charmed state. Leofrick claims to be a king, but without much external verification – this can only be assumed to be true. He is a stern, disciplinarian father figure that did not give Theren much freedom, forcing him to study either in forgotten languages, noble customs or instructing him the ways of being a druid like a drill instructor.

Throughout There’s long, isolated upbringing, he strangely never met any other races and spent the most of his days in the forest amongst the animals. Common cultural paradigms and practices are foreign to him and approaches the world in a very virginal way. As such, he is very prone to corruption in both a good or evil fashion – absorbing traits and mannerisms from the people around him.

Theren was exiled from his secluded prison in a rather abrupt fashion. After a heated argument with Leofrick, Theren snuck into his chambers to play a prank, during which for the first time discovered an almost invisible hidden storage cache in a dilapidated corner of the room. Within, laid a batter, ancient, yet functional shield and several scrolls amongst other strange objects that he had never seen before. Slowly opening one of the scrolls that lay strewn about, it outlined a missive that Leofrick was not his father, a fact which Theren had always thought was true, and that he was to take Theren far away and keep him hidden.

Fraught with anguish, Theren grabbed the scroll, a handful of coins and gems, the shield and another odd looking scroll sized contraption and ran out of the room and into the forest in a fury, tears flowing down his cheeks. The ever-watching handmaidens alerted Leofrick to Theren’s actions and with surprising speed, caught up to Theren in a moonlit glade and challenged Theren’s betrayal.

Another explosive argument ensued and Leofrick saw something in Theren that night that was different and became distraught. In a panic, Leofrick banished Theren from the forest and in doing so, lifted the illusion that prevented Theren from leaving and outsiders discovering them.

It has since been revealed that Theren is the last surviving member of the House of Vol and bears the Dragonmark of Death.
